Swimming at Saxon Pool & Leisure Centre
Lifestyles swimming pools are designed to ensure that whatever your aim is: improving your health, your swimming technique, or just having fun time with the family, at Saxon Pool & Leisure Centre you can do this in a safe, enjoyable and friendly environment.
Swimming offers many health and fitness benefits as 30 minutes of steady paced lane swimming burns over 200 calories – well over 400 in an hour. As the water takes your weight, swimming can be great for those who want low impact exercise such as pregnant women, those who have mobility problems, or who want to protect their joints. Swimming is also great for your heart and your lungs. Because you are using your whole body your heart has to pump blood hard to your arms and legs, helping circulation too.

AquaEd Swim School
AquaEd is Stevenage Leisure’s successful swimming lesson scheme, teaching thousands of children and adults to swim each week in a safe and supportive environment following the Amateur Swimming Association’s National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).
AquaEd offers a new approach to swimming with the emphasis being on fun and enjoyment. Our teachers spend time interacting with your child to make sure they get the most from each lesson they attend. We reward every effort made no matter how small.
For more information on the AquaEd scheme please call 0300 300 8076 or email aquaed.saxon@stevenage-leisure.co.uk. Alternatvely you can download the AquaEd leaflet below for an introduction to AquaEd incorporating the National Plan for Teaching Swimming.
Band Entry System
During peak periods a band entry system will be used at Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre. All swimmers will get a minimum of 1 hour in the pool, but may be called out after this time, if demand for swimming is high.
